Costa del Sol is today a heaven where playing golf is a luxury for all the senses. Its
spectacular warm climate makes it possible to play year-round, a privilege that is not
available in the central and northern parts of Europe. Over the last few years, the
number of golf courses has expanded, and it now offers a great variety. With more than
70 courses, all with the highest level of internal services, many of the most important
international tournaments have been held here. The professional golf circuit has
numerous players trained on the Costa del Sol, or as it is known among players, La
Costa del Golf.
Within the Costa del Sol, Marbella stands out with a total of 22 golf courses, making it
an excellent destination for those looking to enjoy this sport. The first golf course in the
city, Guadalmina Golf Club, was created in 1959. In the following decade, three more
courses were opened: Río Real Golf in 1965, El Atalaya Golf in 1968, and Las Brisas
Golf in 1969. The best designers in the world worked on these courses, creating high-
level designs, accompanied by high-quality grass and integrating the golf courses into
the stunning environment of the area, making them harmonize with the landscape.
Golf is the sport par excellence in Marbella, the perfect complement to the city that
holds the most glamour on the Costa del Sol. Many of the golf courses feature luxury
hotels, spas, and sports facilities for all types of sports. Together with Marbella’s select
gastronomic offerings, variety of beach clubs, 4- and 5-star hotels, and luxury brand
shops, it makes for the perfect destination.
